We could not have been happier with our choice of accomodations. From the greeting we recieved at reception to the one that the cockatoos gave us at breakfast on the balcony, we were pleasantly pleased with our selection of "Toscana resort" for our stay while in Airlie beach. Views were spectacular, very close to the main street without the crowds. The apartment was large and spacious with all the ammenities anyone would want or need.
The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and were able to answer all of our questions and needs. For guests looking for something a cut above the rest should definately consider The Toscana resort, it is a whole lot nicer than your run of the mill hotel/motels. Note:- request a room high on the hill, the view is worth the climb up the steep slope.
Small and quaint town. We were there for the sailing around the Whitsunday islands, and had a few nights at Airlie beach. Town has quite a few very good restaraunts and watering holes. Supermarket is some what limited in food selection, but we were not going to go hungry or thirsty. Nice beach area, and marinas. Everything is within walking distance. Taxi service from Proserpine airport was efficient and on time (best to book prior to arrival) and you save if you book round trip.
There is good reason why Airlie beach is becoming more than just a sleepy town on the Queensland coast. August weather was just perfect, tee shirt during the day and sweat shirt in the evening is all your going to need.
