Location-wise u may need a car if you want to head to the main strip of Airlie Beach unless u like walking.
The property we stayed at was a self contained cabin which was air-conditioned (a must during the wet-season) and had plenty of beds (sleeps 5). The good thing was even the cabin had cable tv and also had cooking facilities inside.
Dont bother doing the mini golf or tennis as they are both run-down and internet access is situated outside and a lil dirty.
Even though we stayed during the off (wet) season, there was still many tourists around but not as busy as it would be during the peak season.
Things to do would include sunbaking @ Airlie Lagoon, going on the many tours available that offer snorkeling & scuba diving the Barrier Reef, visiting Whitehaven Beach, hiring a car for a drive down to Dingo Bay, Bowen or check out Cedar Creek Falls which is awesome during the wet-season or just buy a cheap fishing rod and spend the day fishing at the mariner or drive to Proserpine to try and catch a big Barra.
Book Island Gateway Holiday Park - Aspen Parks, or Coastal Accommodation and Hotels.
